In the Schammach industrial park near Grafing, our INYO CAB is already driving on public roads. Through numerous test drives, we are gathering experience and data on site to study the vehicle’s behavior under real-world conditions and further develop its various vehicle technologies.

The test drives are conducted by our employees and are occasionally supplemented by drives with project partners participating as test passengers.

Our mini-shuttle can autonomously travel between several predefined stops within the industrial park. These stops can be combined flexibly and approached in any order. Along the way, the vehicle detects parked cars, stationary obstacles, and moving objects. The automated driving system developed by FZI in Karlsruhe assesses each situation and attempts to respond appropriately.

The CAB currently features two passenger seats and one seat for the safety driver. In the future, passenger capacity is expected to increase to up to four seats.

One potential future application is so-called “last-mile” transportation in public transit. For example, the CAB could transport passengers from a bus or train stop to their workplace, improving connections between industrial parks and the existing public transport network.

Through our ongoing test drives, we are evaluating the vehicle’s capabilities under real-world conditions and gaining valuable insights into future applications and the technical developments required.
